A Rochester charitable foundation has given grants amounting to $1 million to six Rochester charter schools.
Four of the grants from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation are to schools that plan to open in Rochester later this year, including a new career high school for boys and a charter school of the arts. Support is also going to programs in the Rochester City School District.
The foundation has a special focus on education. Trustee Theresa Mazzullo says charter schools are now part of Rochester's educational landscape and will make significant contributions.
