Part of the Thruway Has Re-Opened in Western New York

Buffalo, N.Y. - Part of the Truway around Buffalo is open to non-commercial traffic.

The Thruway is now open through Buffalo to Route 219 / West Seneca. I-90 in both directions remains closed from Exit 55 all the way to the Penn. border.

A 75-mile stretch of the Thruway from Buffalo to the Pennsylvania border has been closed since Monday night, and travel bans are in effect for much of western New York after Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for 14 counties.

Despite the re-opening, commercial traffic has been shutdown for all areas west of Exit 46 (Rochester/I-390) due to the extreme weather conditions.
