RPD, US Marshal's Service, Hail Fugitive Arrest Partnership

Rochester, NY -- Rochester police and the U.S. Marshal's Service say their formal partnership is paying dividends.

Two recent city homicides were closed with the arrests of suspects in New York City and Georgia.

Marshal Chuck Salina (pictured, with Police Chief Michael Ciminelli looking on) says he's able now to deputize and train city police officers to make long distance arrests. He says once suspect information is developed out of the local area, officers can swoop in and make quick arrests. He says, "It's truly working out great."

The arrests closed a December homicide on Jay Street and a March shooting death on Wilkins Street. Rochester Police joined the Marshal's Fugitive Task Force in 2012.
