Rochester, NY  -- Frank Sterling is receiving a seven-million-dollars from Monroe County for spending 19 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit.

County lawmakers have approved the settlement for Sterling, who had sued for wrongful arrest, conviction and imprisonment.

Sterling was convicted in 1992 for the 1988 murder of an elderly Hilton woman that was committed by Mark Christie.

Sterling confessed to the killing but later recanted, and even though his details of the killing did not match the evidence.
