(AP) Former Buffalo Bills star running back Thurman Thomas has been appointed to the New York State Tourism Advisory Council by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo says he was recommending that the NFL Hall of Fame member fill the position of vice chairman. The governor said the retired football star has shown a commitment to the state both on and off the field.
Thomas lives in the Buffalo area and owns a sports training center outside the city. He was a standout on the Bills teams that went to four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s. He retired in 2001 as Buffalo's career rushing leader.
