(AP) Buffalo N.Y.- A person familiar with the Buffalo Bills sale timetable is entering the final stage with prospective buyers asked to submit formal bids in two weeks.

The source tells the AP that the timetable has been pushed back to after Labor Day because the banking firm overseeing the sale extended a deadline last month in an attempt to increase the number of prospective bidders.

A new owner is still expected to be identified by October, but it's not certain whether it will be in time to be approved by NFL owners at league meetings in early October.

The Bills of course were put up for sale after owner Ralph Wilson died in March.
