Lady Gaga completely transforms herself in her first major movie role alongside Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born. In the first trailer for the highly anticipated film, Gaga looks almost unrecognizable.
A Star Is Born also marks Cooper’s directorial debut. This is the fourth version of the film. After the original 1937 creation, it was remade with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1954 and with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976.
In the film, Gaga plays an aspiring singer whose career begins to take off after she meets Cooper’s character, a washed-up country singer named Jackson Maine who is determined to make her a star.
“I don’t sing my own songs,” Gaga says in the trailer. “I just don’t feel comfortable. Almost every single person has told me they like the way I sounded but they didn’t like the way I look.”
Cooper’s character encourages Gaga’s, telling her “I think you’re beautiful.” Their love story then unfolds as Cooper eventually encourages Gaga to overcome her fears of performing.
A Star Is Born hits theaters on October 5. Watch the first look above!
