Prince Charles Has An Interesting Nickname For Meghan Markle

When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry at their lavish royal wedding last month, her dad wasn't able to walk her down the aisle due to health reasons. Wanting an important figure in her life to take on that role, Meghan asked her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, to do the honor. A statement from the palace revealed how he felt to do it. It read, "The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way." In fact, it turns out Charles and Meghan already have a special relationship and the Prince even has a nickname for her.

According to a royal source, Charles calls Meghan "Tungsten." So why refer to her as a rare metal found naturally on Earth with a name that comes from the Swedish words for "heavy stone?" It's because of Markle's strength. The insider told England's Daily Mail, "Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softie. It's become a term of endearment."

Meghan has inspired a lot of changes in Harry, including getting him to quit smoking and to switch to a healthier lifestyle, so "tungsten" fits. It isn't her first nickname though. Growing up, Markle's dad called her Bean or Beanie because of her love of the story Jack and the Beanstalk.
