Monroe County Legislature Wants Funding to Study Possible RG&E Takeover

The president of the Monroe County Legislature wants the state to fund a study of a possible municipal takeover of Rochester Gas & Electric.

Sabrina LaMar is requesting $1.5 million from state lawmakers.

She's also asking the state Public Service Commission to deny RG&E's proposed rate hikes while it still has billing and customer service issues.

LaMar points out RG&E has a 9-county service area, meaning Rochester and Monroe County shouldn't be on hook to pay for a takeover study.
