LGBTQ+ superstar Ben Platt absolutely stole the show at iHeartRadio's annual Can't Cancel Pride event on Wednesday night (June 12), using his voice to inspire current generations, and generations to come.
Can't Cancel Pride exists to shine a spotlight on the impact that music and LGBTQ+ organizations have on the queer community. Platt dazzled the audience with his authentic excitement, passion for his craft, and proud presence as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
"I am a proud, proud card carrying member of the queer community and it is my favorite community to be apart of and my favorite community to celebrate! I wrote this song I'm going to sing for you about my love...his name is Noah. We're getting married! It's called 'Cherry On Top' and I hope you enjoy it!"
The artist proceeded to belt out his latest tune, detailing the love he has for his partner's soul, and illustrating the moments that they cherish together within each lyric. The "Grow As We Go" star released his third studio album titled Honeymind on May 31st featuring a slew of tracks including "Fear Of Missing Out," "Before I Knew You," "Shoe To Drop," and "Cherry On Top" to name a few. The artist is currently on a North American tour with his next performance slated for June 13th at The Palace Theatre in New York City.
Other artists that slayed the stage at this year's Can't Cancel Pride event included icon and LGBTQ+ activist Billy Porter, Meghan Trainor, David Archuleta, Melissa Etheridge, Orville Peck, Victoria Monét, RAYE, and Allison Russell.
Can't Cancel Pride kicks off a month-long Pride party set to continue through June. Fans can use the hashtag #CantCancelPride to follow along with the continued celebration on social media, and support LGBTQ+ nonprofits via cantcancelpride.com!
