Nelly and Ashanti have been happily married for a while now.
According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, June 19, the superstar couple got hitched six months ago in Missouri. The marriage license doesn't confirm which city they were married in, but it does say the nuptials happened in St. Louis County. It's safe to say the couple probably tied the knot in Nelly's hometown of St. Louis, however, the public ceremony hasn't happened just yet. Both award-winning artists did an incredible job keeping their marriage under wraps especially after they officially announced Ashanti is pregnant with their first child.
Ashanti recently opened up about Nelly's proposal to her and the moment she found out she was pregnant. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the seasoned singer explained she suspected she might be expecting after she realized she was late. She didn't even know for sure if she was actually pregnant until she took a test for the first time after that memorable moment when Nelly placed his hand on her belly during an event in December.
"When he blurted that out on stage, we actually did not know," she clarified. "I hadn't even taken a test at that time...I was pushing it down and he's like, making it look like something. And I'm like, 'No!'"
The "Baby" crooner confirmed her pregnancy four months later in an interview with Essence. She told Nelly she was pregnant over a FaceTime call while she was at his mother's home.
"He was so happy and we were both smiling and it was so funny," she explained. "I was actually at his mom's house. He was in the studio. It was a really cool moment. It was a little bit of everything."
