So dope! The Oakland A’s are honoring the legendary Glenn Burke by renaming Pride Night to his name during the upcoming June 11 game against the Kansas City Royals. Burke was the first openly gay MLB player, an Oakland native, and former A’s outfielder. In a statement, Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval shared,
“Glenn Burke was a trailblazer, and we are excited and honored to recognize his legacy and impact on the game of baseball by naming our annual Pride Night after him. Glenn Burke Pride Night will continue to be a time of celebration and inclusion at our ballpark as we come together with friends and allies.”
