My path to becoming an actual golfer continued down the right road yesterday as I was fortunate enough to golf along side 13WHAM's Doug Emblidge, Dixon-Schwabl's David Lyttle, and my father-in-law, financial advisor Lou Bouchard in The Rochester Business Classic.
It took place at The Country Club of Rochester and WOW, did they do a great job. It was a HOT day, but no worries, drink carts and cold towels were plentiful. They even had a steak dinner at the turn (that was lunch - dinner was a seafood bar appetizer and then the main course was pork and beef tenderloin).
Also, a LIVE cigar roller! Here I am pictured below with him:
If you don't know how these charity tournaments work, there are big prizes for winners and sponsored holes for things like "longest drive" or "hole in one". Well, one of our foursome, David Lyttle, came THIS CLOSE (pic'd below) to hitting the $10,000 hole in one!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Again - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One final note. The tournament benefited some amazing charities including The Willow Domestic Center and Crosby's Fund. Crosby was the son of Kevin Wilmot. Crosby died just before his 2nd birthday of cancer. His parents set up the fund to help further cancer research. Kevin Wilmot was the high bidder and won an appearance on The Wease Show as well as lunch with The Flower City Food Tours and dinner/cooking class at The New York Kitchen. Here I am with Kevin just after the auction closed.
Speaking of golf, we're happy to be sponsoring this week/weekend's Danielle Downey Classic at Brook-Lea Country Club! Here's Emily Childs, who we'll be cheering on in the tournament, posing with our sponsored hole:
