Big Boy and Ryan Seacrest connected on-air on Monday, June 1, amid the unrest following George Floyd's death. As protests continue to explode across the nation and looting and riots have ensued, Big Boy stressed he wants people to divert their attention to now what?
âWeâve been in a position, bro, where the people, you know, theyâre tired,â Big Boy shared. âPeople are tired and as far as the conversation weâve been having I just want to really tell people to divert their energy into a different place. ⊠We got the attention. Now itâs what do we do with it now? I donât think that everyone thatâs out there at the moment is out there for George Floyd.â
Peaceful protests started following the unjust killing of Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis after a white police officer pinned him down with a knee on his neck, last week. The officer, Derek Chauvin, has since been fired and charged with Floydâs murder. Amid the protests, chaos has exploded, with thousands arrested nationwide following looting and vandalism.
âWeâre getting a lot of mixed messages out there,â Big Boy added. â⊠I think weâre starting to water down the actual message. ...There's some people, Ryan, that are playing chess and I feel that there's a lot of us that are playing checkers.â
